Answer» Hi - first timer here. Hopefully, I'm posting in the right place.
Let's begin with a picture.
The 'Before' image is more or less what my Device Drivers dialog looked like before I made the mistake I'll discuss. (More or less because I did an image search on Google to find an image close to my original configuration and am DISPLAYING that.)
The 'After' image is what it looks like now.
The way I got here was that I the sound on my Toshiba SATELLITE P755-S5215 laptop (Windows 7, 64bit). Right-clicking on the Realtek device, I saw "disable." I mistakenly thought this would gray out the speakers and then I'd be able to right-click again and choose "enable." Simple - but wrong. Disable meant "delete."
So now some of the applications that require the Realtek device won't work, even though I can still hear sound through my headset.
Am I hosed? Or is there a way to get the speakers to work again?
Thanks in advance.
Regards, - BalHave you tried a restore point?I haven't done that yet. Last restore point is quite some time AGO. I was kind of hoping that there was a software driver to re-install or an exe file to click, etc.Disabling a playback device will not hide it if you have "Show Disabled Devices" checked: right click any device in the Playback tab (or the window itself).
Fan-freaking-tastic SALMON Trout! Thank you thank you thank you!
Very much appreciated.
Best Regards, Bal
