Solve : Please help: Windows does not start up?

Answer»

When I start up my computer, the WINDOWS XP screen shows up. The one with the black background. After that the monitor shows this text: Quote

Checking files on D:
The file type is NFTS:

One of your files needs to be checked for consistency. You may skip this test but it is strongly recommended that you continue.
After drive D: is checked, there's just a blank screen.

I'm running on Windows XP Professional, VERSION 2002, Service Pack 2. My computer is a AMD ATHLON (tm) XP 2100+, 1.74 GHz, 96.0 MB of RAM. Please help me.Can you get into safemode? Is Windows installed on drive D?I can't get into Safe Mode and Windows is installed on drive C. I don't why it checks D.Do you have your XP CD?

and download the diagnostics. Create a bootable disk, and let it CHECK your hard drive for issues. No, I don't have the CD.

How do I know which of those listed is my hard drive?
