Answer» Toshiba satellite L30-11D/ Vista Basic
My neice has a Laptop that when you now put in a USB sticks detects a new device but ASKS for driver to be loaded. It asks to go to the internet to find one and ends up with the following message.
Problem signature Problem Event Name: PnPDriverNotFound Architecture: x86 PCI\VEN_STICK_DETAILS OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 2057
It had been previously auto detecting USB sticks and running them. The USB ports work with a USB mouse automatically though so they are working and the Toshiba hardware diagnostics confirm this.
The sticks have been tested in another computer and are fine.
I cannot download a Vista driver for these USB sticks as there are none for them.
I have tried a Vista restore to several weeks back before this problem occured but this doeasn't do it.
Any ideas guys. Try to uninstall USB controllers. Restart computer, and they'll be reinstalled automatically.I'll give that a SHOT and LET you know. Thanks. Also check and see if these sticks have U3 installed...if so format them after retrieving the data...i have been having the same problem i hook the printer or mp3 player and put install cd in and it tells me to hook printer in and it is hooked up computer says they are working fine but CANT get to work
