Solve : port services?

Answer»

hey,

I did a port scan at a website and it gave me these results.

Quote

The host {IP} does not have a service running on port 21 (ftp).
The host {IP} does not have a service running on port 23 (telnet).
The host {IP} does not have a service running on port 53 (domain).
The host {IP} does not have a service running on port 80 (http).
The host {IP} does not have a service running on port 110 (pop3).
The host {IP} does not have a service running on port 139 (netbios-ssn)

How do i enable these services?

Thanks.
Leave WELL enough alone. You don't want services enabled on those ports. They are specific use ports. If you should leave them open, half the world would be accessing your computer. Every cracker, virus, and malware on the internet would come looking for you.ok well i thought that was the reason why my internet CONNECTION keeps failing.

Wonder if anyone knows the reason.

It works again after i uninstall my ethernet card (through the device manager) and then reinstall it.

Does that mean there is something wrong with my ethernet card???*bump*What OS? How are you connected? Any time outs set? What error message(s) do you get? Under what circumstances does the failure occur? All of our crystal balls have been confiscated so we can't tell what your problem is unless you provide information.Nope no errors not nothing, mostly the connection just times out and won't re-connect.

Removal tools
The following files are not substitutes for the ones described above.
They are either diagnostic tools or removal tools for malware of a certain kind

HijackThis

McAfee Stinger
-- Virus removal tool. No substitute for a fully functional virus scanner!
CWshredder

See, the thing is, that is what i thought it might be (virus or spyware). I have ZoneAlarm already, also Panda Anti-Virus, SpyBot, Ewido, and of course the windows firewall.

Still doesn't seem to fix things. At first it did, but it's not ANYMORE so maybe that wasn't it?

Umm don't really know much about my internet connection. It's cable internet, 5MBps..I've called my ISP but they say nothing is wrong on their end so i have no clue.
