Solve : Possible soundcard issues??

Answer»

I have an HP Pavilion dv9000 with Windows Vista, an Intel Centrino Duo Processor, and a 32-bit OS.  I checked my system specs but can't find how much RAM I have.

I recently have started having troubles with it.  All of my media players and games have stopped running sound.  The media players won't play anything:  I hit the play button and nothing happens.  My games are really laggy and have no sound.  Also, my wireless internet notification ICON says "Connection Status:  unknown  Server execution failed".

I think I have a virus but I ran 3 scanners and picked up nothing.  Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be and how I might fix it?right click mycomputer/click properties click device manager click ide controller click primary controller click advanced settings post what is in the "current TRANSFER mode" box.Is this the primary controller: Intel(R) 8280 1G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF?sorry it should READ primary ide channel
this is under IDE ATA/ATAP controller +Ok I have 3 IDE channels and none of them tell me if it's the primary one.  Should I just tell you what is in all of them? That might work.
Ok.  The first one says "Ultra DMA Mode 5.  The second one is blank.  The third one:  "Multi-Word DMA Mode 2".OKay, I am very sorry. I could have sworn I read that your were running XP. I have no experience with Vista. It's ok. Thanks anyway. In Vista, it MAY say just IDE Channel, but I have no idea what it has to do with sound problem....
You have several issues there...
When did they START?
Did you try System Restore?
Are the Windows sounds present?
To find about your RAM, hold Windows key, and hit Pause/Break key.Well i think it started about 2 or 3 days ago.  I haven't tried a system restore yet but that's not a bad idea.  I'm pretty sure the Windows sounds are present.  I checked that but it just says "Not Available" next to RAM.

Let me try a System Restore and I'll get back to you. Quote

it just says "Not Available" next to RAM
This is weird.Alright the System Restore worked!  Thanks for the help!  I don't know why I didn't think of that but thanks alot for the help!  This issue is resolved!Very cool
