Answer» How do I fix the problem, "the print spooler service is not RUNNING"?
Microsoft Windows XP Version 5.1 :More INFO please?Microsoft Windows XP, Version 5.1
I'm trying to install a new printer and the installation won't start. The message I get is, "processing cannot be continued because Print Spooler service has been stopped. Restart the computer to start the Print Spooler service and then try again". I restart several times and get the same message.
I tried troubleshooting the problem but nothing specifially addresses this issue. All fixes I have tried give me the message, "the print spooler service is not running". Go to Start --> Run, type services.msc and press enter. Find Print Spooler, and set it to Automatic if it is not already. Also, double click it and press Start. Hope this helps. No doubt a USB printer. Try disconnecting the USB cable. Turn the printer off at the power button. Disconnect printer power cord. Reverse this procedure and reboot. If the installation is on a CD that came with the printer, cancel all found new hardware SCREENS on reboot. INSERT the CD and run the installation from there.Calum,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Your suggestion worked PERFECTLY. I initially got a message about the dependency service or group failed to start but I did the same thing you told me to do to the dependencies it listed as I did to the print spooler and presto, I CAN PRINT!!!!
I really appreciate all the people like you who paid attention in class. I hope you are somewhere making a lot of money for your knowledge. I'll be looking for you if I need help again..... You're more than welcome, glad I could help. Just make sure they're all set to Automatic or you'll have to keep starting them each time you want to print. Oh, and I'm making no money as yet, haha.
