Solve : Printer sharing?

Answer»

I have a HP desktop on windows XP (not wireless) connected to Printer HP2600 works fine printing.

I also Have a Dell vostro Vista 1700 wireless connected thru hub/hp to printer

It was working ok and stopped unsure about sharing options/namesNot sure.
I think the HP printer has to be eitherr USB or wireless, but not both.
Run the install CD again and either repair of replace the installation. Do it on both machines.

Can you clarify your wireless configuration? Exactly what devices are involved and how are they connected? Thanks for reply:

As said HP Desktop (not wireless) connected direct to hub/router and direct to hp printer (not wireless)

Laptop Dell Vostro (Vista) wirelessly connected to hub and desktop(Prints via Desktop)
I'll just state my computer and printer setup; I have the impression you COULD do the same. I have 2 tower systems connected to my combo modem/router by cable and a laptop which connects wirelessly to the router. And, I have my printer connected to the router via cable. This allows any of the computers to use the printer WITHOUT any other computer needing to be running, as would be the case if the printer were connected to one of the computers and then shared with other computer. I was still unclear on his setup after you asked for clarification Soybean...so it's not just you.The only difference from your statement is my printer is connected directly to desktopQuote from: Russell Mortimer on February 11, 2014, 12:17:07 AM

OK, so why not change that and CONNECT your printer to your router? Not wanting tyo ADD con fusion, but here is one method that works if both computer are running. This works with a very old printer with not network abilities at all, and old parallel port HP 810.
Printer is hooked to desktop via the PP cable.
Deathtrap is tied to router via cable.
Laptop is on network using wireless to the router.
Laptop prints on the shaded printer of the Desktop.
This works so good, I will not o change anything. I just have top have TWO computers running if I wan t to print from the laptop.

Perhaps the OP has a newer printer that maybe allows both USB and wireless.

But I double it works that way. I think USB and Wireless are mutually exclusive on HP printers. See link below.
