Solve : Problem installing Win 7 Pro 64-bit on new build?

Answer»

I am doing a new build for the wife.
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OEM
MB: Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black EDITION 3.2GHZ
RAM:4GB Corsair DDR3- 1333MHZ (2 x 2048)
HDD: 1. Seagate 500GB 16MB SATA 3.5 Internal
2. Seagate 500GB 32MB DATA 3.5 Barracuda Internal
P/S: Ultra x4 500W

Not running HDDs in a RAID config.

When I try to INSTALL from DVD, it gets to the "Where do you want to install Windows" choice of the two drives, when I chose either of the drives I get the error MESSAGE "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information."

1. How do I view the setup log files?
2. How to I create or force the creation of the system partition?

Note: This is the second build with the same model MB, CPU, RAM, P/S. I purchased two separate copies of the OEM OS. The other build, which I am using, went fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been pulling my hair out over this for a week. Thanks in advance.Disconnect the 2nd drive...leave only the drive you wnat to install to.
Re-boot
Very early on in the setup process you will see a prompt stating "Press F6 to install additional drivers....do so.
Then insert your MBoard Driver CD and Win7 will automatically install the driver and proceed...Thanks Patio. I was thinking about doing that, but wasn't sure if it would work. This has me bugged, I did not have this problem with the first of the two builds. Thanks I will try.Quote from: patio on August 17, 2010, 05:14:07 PM

Thanks Patio, I did as you suggested and I now have the OS loaded on the computer. Never did get the "Press F6" prompt. At the "Where do you want to install Windows" there was a link that you could load drivers. Thanks again.Good JOB....stop by anytime.
