Solve : problem installing windows xp?

Answer»

If I have a ghosted image on a windows xp crash disk, and i use that image to ghost a different configuration, will it still work?

Personally, i'd have to BELIEVE, that it would not work. Because if it did, why would the mfr's bother bundling an oem specific crash disk in the 1st place. anyone know?

I've used ghosting in the past but it was in an ENVIRONMENT where EVERY system in the room had the exact same hardware configuration. I never had the need to TRY it on differing SYSTEMS, besides all the hardware in the stockroom was the same.

So, I figured, why not come here, and ask all of you experts if it can be done, without telling you that it was a crash/restore disk in the 1st place.

Except, ooooops, it seems i let the cat out of the bag
If it's an OEM Ghost CD it will only work on the machine it shipped with in 95% of the cases...
This is by design.
