I wrote a post earlier about a problem with msvcr7.dll and I want to thank those that tried to help however I gave some wrong info so now I'll TRY to correct it. I'm trying to install avast anti-virus and I can install it but can't get it to run because I get this message application FAILED to start because mscr71.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application MAY fix this problem. Someone gave me a site to go to that might help reinstall this file it was www.dll-files.com/. It seeemed to have this file available but it comes in a zipped file and you have to buy a program to unzip it or open it. I don't know anything about zipped files. Is there another place or way to reinstall this file. I have windows xp home edition. Thanks for any help you can give!DLoad and install 7Zip which will handle all types of compressed files....zips are just one of many types it handles.
When unzipping a file you are simply un-compressing it back to its normal size...it's BEST to create a Temp directory for this that's empty so when it's un-comressed you know all the files in that directory belong in the original zipped file.
