Solve : problem reinstalling XP after replacing motherboard? |
|
Answer» I replaced a bad motherboard on a friend's compaq computer. I couldn't get a copaq replacement so I went with one that was recommended by a computer repair shop. Replacing the motherboard went ok, but when reinstalling XP it locks up, bsods, and every error message imagineable. Memory, shadowing, something that shoudn't be in a paging area, and everything in between. Would this be a bios problem, such as the bios needing to be reflashed, or do I need a sp version that has more extensive drivers that I need. I am using a XP version with sp3. Thanks in advance. I hope every one who uses this site appreciates you guys donating your time and trouble.Quote ...compaq computer....Compaq support could not tell you what is the replacement motherboard? That is hard to believe. Did you ask them. More info needed. A retail version of XP MIGHT not install on some Compaq models.. Which Compaq? Which Windows XP? How did you tried to install XP? A CLEAN install? Those don't sound like errors you would get when installing an OS. Are you BOOTING to the XP CD?Sounds to me like a Sharpie version of XP...... But i've been wrong twice this Month already...Quote from: patio on December 02, 2009, 05:09:08 PM Sounds to me like a Sharpie version of XP......OR the Compaq Windows RECOVERY disks. |
