Answer»

I am having a problem installing XP onto my computer. Whenever I boot the INSTALLATION disc at start up and have it proceed with the boot up, it never gets past "SETUP is inspecting your hardware configuration". Can you guys help me with this problem?Try cleaning CD.1. See What information should I provide?

Does it say or do anything else (like display an error message)?

What kind of installation disc?
o Home Edition or Professional
o Original, Service Pack 1 (SP1), SP2, SP3
o Corporate, Retail, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
o Copy of legitimate Microsoft disc
o Home made slipstream disk from legitimate Microsoft discQuote from: Broni on July 10, 2008, 12:31:45 AM
Try cleaning CD.

No, it never gets past ¨Setup is inspecting your hardware configuration" (I am not sure if that is the EXACT wording)

Home edition SP1, at least that is the first one I have tried which has worked in the past for me.
