Solve : Problem with maximizing windows?

Answer»

Let me start by saying, I am a Mac user at home and at school, and as it has been some time since I've been a predominantly Windows user, I feel hopeless. I am on our computer at work (night shift hotel worker, nothing else to do but go on line ), and our computer is a Dell, using Windows XP and Internet Explorer. The problem is with the resizing of the windows.. whenever I hit the maximize button, the address bar portion of the screen GOES off the top and I can't get it to re SIZE or anything. I can re size it to fit the screen whenever it is not maximized, which is fine, but I'd like to get this problem fixed because I am not the only one using this computer. It bothers me because I am so used to hitting the maximize button and it just fitting to screen, so it's been kind of a bother trying to keep from doing it. If anyone knows a way to fix this, I will FOREVER be INDEBTED to you!
ps: not sure if this helps, but it is not only the internet that does this, but all of the windows.  Thanks to anyone who can help!Have you tried a different screen resolution ? ?
Right clik an empty area of the desktop...select Properties and try a few different settings...
NOTE: Font sizes will also affect this.Okay, that worked.. you are amazing! QUESTION though, we have a sort of oversized monitor, kind of like a widescreen.. and when I changed the resolution it said that it was not the optimum resolution & suggestted what he had previously.. but when it is that setting is when we have the problem.. So I guess my question is- is the "optimum setting" assuming we have a normal sized monitor? There are usually control buttons and settings on the monitor that control screen size, height, width, etc.  You might play around with those also.Ahh lovely! That is what it was.. I was wondering, because when I redid the pixels it kind of made the text look funny, so I found a setting on the monitor that said auto adjust, and set the resolution back to "optimun" & hit that & all is well! Thank you very much!Glad to hear you are all fixed up...Welcome Aboard...and stop by anytime.Okay! I really appreciated the fast & accurate responses, thanks again!
