Solve : Problem with restore and recovery?

Answer»

I have a Compaq Presario SR5310F. It is running on Vista Home Premium. It is all still in factory condition. I have added no memory or no upgrades. I made the recovery discs that was suggested when I used the computer for the first time. I have since used them one time when the system was giving me tons of problems. I don't remember now what the problems were. Now I have been getting the blue screen "of death." But usually it is fine once I restart occasionally has asked me to go into safe mode. About a month ago after my son used the computer and shut down (not something out of ordinary) it wouldn't let me use the internet. I found that the driver was not installed really weird but I used another computer to get and download driver. Actually problem was fixed after hp or windows updates. I have since had no problems except Mozilla Firefox freezing up every once in a while. Today I went to log on to work and Firefox froze. I had to pull up task MANAGER and end it. I restarted and the problem reoccured. I used system restore and it ended with an error and asked if I wanted to recover so I attempted this. I have the discs I created and have used once before. So I THOUGHT okay no problem, I had already made a disc of pictures and important documents, so I proceeded. This too ended with an error (ERROR: 0x4001100200001005). I have contacted compaq/hp customer support and technical. They have told me that it is a problem with my recovery discs and need to order new ones, but that is not possible because there website has an error. I have attempted this several times but it stops at 23% of reformatting partition drive and gives me the error each time. I do have a back up computer but is not able to do the stuff I need for work. I have contacted the store I PURCHASED the computer from and they too claim they can't help even though I still have 18 months left on my service PLAN. I refuse to take it to the local computer store because the last time it took them several months to install a motherboard and didn't even add the drivers. I had to do most of the work myself and spent well over LABOR and parts on it including a 25 dollar fee that was supposed to be applied to the total costs. I am open to any suggestions and am fairly knowledgable and have fixed several computers before.Quote

Can't you order over the phone?
