Answer» Windows XP I just reinstalled XP and installed some drivers that were necessary, now I cannot find my taskbar or start menu button. They're not in auto-hide. They just disappeared after PC was restarted. The only way I can access the start button is by pressing Ctrl and Esc. Does anybody know how to correct this problem? Thanks.RUN chdsk......or sfc scannow.........in the run BOX...did you! re-install winxp because of trojans/worms!The answer is yes, I had so many intrusions that it was impossible to work. I've since installed firewall, ANTIVIRUS, SpyBot, Search & Destroy, you name it, I have it. But I need my taskbar and the menu bar.
I'll proceed with the chdisk and see what HAPPENS. Any other suggestion, I'll appreciate that! Thanks. I did the chdsk and the PC cannot find it; the sfc scannow just flashes but I don't see any action. What's the problem? Thanks. The command is: sfc /scannow.When you use the keyboard to activite the start menu, where is it? The start menu could have be relocated to another side of the screen. It's also possible to resize the bar to very small so look out for a thin line around the screen and drag it out. It's possible that your monitor is not set up correctly and the bar is off screen. Using the monitor's buttons, alter the position and size so you are sure the whole screen is vissible. If you have and LCD, they usually have an autoadjust. My taskbar is somewhere at the bottom of the screen but I can't figure out a way to bring it up; however, when I removed the graphics controller the taskbar came right up to where it's supposed to be. But when I reinstalled the controller again the taskbar disappeared to the bottom of the screen. I just updated graphics controller driver to see if that will solve the problem but no it didn't. What do you think could be causing this?screen resolution to low titilucky......By any chance do you have your screen in the full screen mode .........try pressing the F11 key and see if that solves it .
