Solve : problem with USB modem on Vista?

Answer»

Hi there ,

I have a USB modem , it was working just fine with windows Vista , suddenly it's not recognized , I uninstalled and reinstalled its driver --> didnt work . I tried it on another laptop --> worked . I scanned the laptop for viruses , reinstalled the driver --> didnt work . I connect a flash memory on the same USB port and works fine . I am going nuts .... can somebody please advise me what can I do ?
It may be simply a lack of knowledge on my part but "have a USB modem" is not a term i am familiar with. Do you mean a wireless adapter connected via the usb port of the computer. truenorthUSB modems generally connect to the computer (there may be some routers that have a USB input). Most work fine, but from my experience a cat 5 cable with ethernet connectors (RJ45) are more reliable.

See if you can borrow, or buy an ethernet cable and see if that solves the problem.no i mean 3G broadband usb modem (data connection via mobile network)

You need to provide more details...callin it a Modem although slightly accurate threw everyone off...

The more details the better.actually it's a modem anyway it's a ZTE MF626 Is there a link or an available driver for Win Vista? Or do you have a disc for the USB wireless modem?OK I'm back on board (HOPEFULLY a bit wiser). This seems to be a "prepaid"wireless modem used in conjunction with a Telestra wireless service in Australia. There are many GOOGLE ENTRIES related to PROBLEMS with this device. Including the manufacturer making the statement that they are basically not to be held responsible if it doesn't work. I note that your usage is in conjunction with Vista. Do you also use a version of Ubuntu on that computer? Because this site relates to the proper installation method for a Ubuntu O/S.

I simply did a Google search using the "ZTE MF626 " as the search parameter. You might want to try the same as there are thousands of references to that modem. Sorry i cannot be more specific as to a solution.truenorthThank you all for your attempts to solve the problem .

I have solved the problem by removing power ISO software , obviously virtual CD causes problems with the ZTE software . I twisted my mind to find what changes I did that could cause the problem , at first I didnt expect it would be power ISO but it was actually it .

I hope this post may help anybody who would have similar problem in the next 10 years
