Answer» Hi all, This is the problem. I have an HP media center desktop with Windows XP. When I turn the computer on, it SEEMS to turn on properly, and the desktop APPEARS with all the icons, start button like it normally should. At this point the cursor is still the hourglass figure. After about a second the desktop dissappears, which is when the cursor becomes an ARROW. What is GOING on, and how do I fix it? Do a ctrl,alt,del and select the processes tab. Do you see explorer.exe there?I'm having same/similar problem. explore.exe is not showing on Processes.In Task Manager, click on "New Task" button. Type in: explorer Hit Enter. See, if it'll bring your desktop BACK.
