Answer» I got a problem with my operating system. I'm RUNING on Windows XP Pro.
I accedently replaced winlogon.exe and licdll.dll in my system32 FOLDER. Now, everytime I restart my computer, I get a blue screen error with some WEIRD symbols after the loading screen, and the computer restarts.
I'd like to KNOW how I can restore the original files to that folder or run System Restore. I tryed the MS-DOS bootdisk but I couldn't find a command to start system restore. I ran the Recovery console though the Windows Xp cd, but it gives me an error and restarts the computer.
Any suggestions?did you try running it in safe mode? command line to use from the rott of C: is -
windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe that should bring it up.
If safe mode wont load you can use the above with safe mode with command prompt.Go to Start/Run and type in SFC /scannow and hit Enter... Have your XP CD handy.

Have you run a check on your RAM to see if data corruption lies at the back of this as it so often does.
Run a test on your hard-drive too.
You'll find instructions for re-seating the RAM modules here... XP REPAIR
