Answer» Hello
i thought i had a virus, so i formatted my machine.. i replaced windows vista with xp pro SERVICE pack 2, it works fine and i dident have any problems except now im missing audio/graphics card/modems drivers, and when i try to add a driver "HSFAC97_winxp" or "R68591" which are GENERIC drivers for conexant Modems and Conexant RD01 - D850 In particular, The Software doesent work for one.., and none of the "unknown devices" use this set of drivers, under "Device manager" the other devices are as follows...
Other PCI Bridge Device PCI Device PCI Simple Communications Controller SM Bus Controller USB Wireless 802/11b/g adaptor Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
I wasent sure if it was PCI simple communications controller, and in windows vista after i first uninstalled the driver the modem was named in-built modem, but windows xp doesent list it. what do i do?i've also tryed HSFP_WinXP ,ive downloaded them multiple times from multiple places and still its not working? but everything ive found in google suggests this is the driver i need?Do you have the CDs for your machine? Did you get a driver CD with it?
What are the specs of your machine?
No i got this machine free as a replacement for a machine damaged by the repair people that was under warranty, its using xp pro sp2, and its an AMD athlon 64 x2 DUAL core processor 3800+ with 2.00 ghz and 896 mb of ram in a hp pavillion slimline s7700n pcSometimes it's not enough to just format your drive, try scrubbing it completely clean and then treat it to take a fresh windows installation.
I've done this at least 20-30 times, and it works every time.
You will have to put all your drivers back in, and re-install your internet settings.Quote Other PCI Bridge Device PCI Device PCI Simple Communications Controller SM Bus Controller USB Wireless 802/11b/g adaptor Video Controller (VGA Compatible) These are all MBoard devices and motherboard drivers need to be installed properly before you add other devices such as a modem or add on vid or sound cards or they simply won't work ... DLoad and run Everest Home to identify your motherboard...travel to the manuf. SITE and DLoad and install the complete MBoard driver package. Re-boot and then try the modem driver and it will most likely work now.
