Answer» i have COMPAQ presario sr1200, reinstalled windows xp, no problem, added missing drivers from HP website. Then after doing updates, i go to click start, and lose my mouse and keyboard, cant do anything, reboot, then just black screen, this has HAPPENED twice in a row, i am thinking the video DRIVER, but i am getting from the website, so dont know whats going on. any ideas? thanks.I have a feeling that the updates CORRUPTED the boot sector or something else very important. Keep trying reboots, maybe a system recovery if possible and if this is a new install I would consider starting over and make sure to delete the hard drive partition and make a new one. Any other ideas guys? thanks again.What was the initial reason for reinstall?hey guys, i dont know the original reason for reinstalling, i did it again reinstall, after getting windows updates, mouse and keyboard go out, reboot, and have no video or mouse or keyboard, can boot into safe mode a couple times, i went in took out the last update, still no good, then it boots and goes to black screen, cant even go into safe mode. I changed out hard drive with a working one, and just kept rebooting, any ideas? thanks.i think i finally figured it out, looks like it was a stick of ram, removed one, and voila, its all good. thanks for the help along the way, boys.Nice job
