Solve : Problems with startup?

Answer»

At startup, I can log in to my desktop fine. However, after a few seconds, I get "critical kernel error" and "virtual memory is DAMAGED by Explorer.exe" and "memory reading at address 0x00f31fA." My comupter then unexpectedly will shut down. The next time I turn it on, a blue SCREEN flashes (which I don't have enough time to fully read) about windows unable to start properly. To my knowledge, I have not recently installed any new programs or downloaded anything that might have CAUSED this.

I also have a lot of unwanted startup applications that I can't seem to disable with msconfig. I'm not SURE if the two are related.

I have a Samsung NC10 netbook on Windows XP. Processor: Intel Atom (1.6 GHz) ; RAM installed: 1 GB; L2 cache 512MB

Any help WOULD be greatly greatly appreciated!

Thanks!Have you tried booting into safemode?

P.S. I have the same netbook - NC10 in Blackthis mite help alittle if your familiar with a program called system mechanic. system mechanic has an optimize tool where you can disable programs at startup. It may help you out. other then that try running recovery console from you windows xp cd. use the fixboot and fixmbr commands this may let you have access to atleast safemode. then you can figure out what issue you gotta resolve.I'd stay away from System Mechanic....Quote from: patio on August 05, 2009, 05:03:26 PM

I'd stay away from System Mechanic....

System Mechanic is fine, as long as you never use the registry fix application.
