Its still the same. Do the basics and go from there. Is your desire to learn just for your own benefit? Or do you wish to learn skill that you can share with others and work with them? The C language has been around for awhile. It is considered to be a 'system' language. For doing useful APPLICATIONS that go beyond the system you need a tool the has more power and discipline to solve piratical problems in the real world.
Now if the former is you desire, the stay close to this forum. Many here view programming skills as a form of self-expression rather than a contribution to the good of society.
Let me say it another way. Few people become really good at system programming. And when one does, the excellent system programmer usually works with seven good programmers that do the piratical applications. The excellent system programmer is held in high esteem. But the seven men under him are doing the work that is most needed.
Do you understand what I mean?
ha that good, thanks,

Without a system you cannot run compilers and solve problems. Did you mean "practical"?

Glad to make you laugh!
Here is some free information for you. It is very technical and has a lot of information. And they have free tutorials that go with the material, It is all from Microsoft. And as you know, Microsoft now has a commanding presence in the world of electronic information and communication. Their products are wildly used in commerce, education, finance, hospitals, transportation and many other important areas of modern society. The product that may be of most interest to you is the one called Visual C++, a language that builds on the foundation of C and introduces the structure and strength needed for very large projects. It will take constant study and practice, but is will worth the effort. Or PERHAPS you would rather be more interested in doing Web Design. There is also a Microsoft product for that. For education purpose you can get a free download of any of the special versions of the Visual Studio products. Outside of the Microsoft products, there is not as much that has the poser, choice and free help you have with the Microsoft Visual Studio. I have used Microsoft programming languages for many years and have always been happy with there products. I strongly recommend them if you wish to have a solid base of programming skills. I do not recommend C as a starter language for anyone. It is only for people who must believe one tool is all they need to do anything. You must be versatile and adaptive to succeed. Master C++ first. It opens more doors.
