Answer» I dont know whether this is a software or hardware issue, and apparently neither does DELL after my 2 hour phone adventure which ended with no information gained, and getting transferred about 7 times due to idiocy on their end.
I have two programs which can not connect to the INTERNET.
Mozilla firefox, and Impulse. Mozilla stopped working after the update yesterday, Impulse was installed within the past 3 days.
I have no firewall running (firefox forum admins scanned my computer with a program to check), IE and FF show no proxy enabled.
I can connect to the internet fine through IE, which I am posting with now.
I have uninstalled, and reinstalled both programs. I have enabled my firewall, added firefox to the allowed program list, and it didnt work, removed firefox from the allowed program list, still didnt work, RE-added firefox to the allowed program list, still nothing. I disabled the firewall again.
I have cleared cookies and cache of both IE and firefox.
What part of windows 7 would cause these two programs (and most likely other new ones) to not be able to connect to the internet?
TECHNICAL information which may or may not be helpful is included in the attachments. I believe startup is the output of a program that impulse sent me to HELP them diagnose the problem, though I cant remember exactly.
Hopefully I can get some help here.

windows defender found nothing, but my norton AV (which came with the computer, I havent touched it so I dont even know if it is still valid or working) wont work. I assume Ive got a problem then.
