Have you reset the resolution yet to the original resolution? Can't. The start menu is there but when you select setting, control panel it also opens up off screen. I should have mentioned he is running Windows XP. Have you tried safe modus yet?If I'm understanding this CORRECTLY, the resolution is set too low for anything to fit on screen properly. Try right clicking on the icon on the taskbar and choosing "size" or "move" and resizing or moving the Control Panel window so you can see it, and reset the resolution from there. Alternatively, blackberry's suggestion of using Safe Mode would work - Safe Mode uses a set resolution, so you'd be able to change the resolution from there without having windows disappearing off the edge of the screen. However, I'm not sure if changes made in Safe Mode are PERMANENT or not - I don't know if the resolution you select there will affect the resolution in normal mode. Hope this helps.Problem solved. I opened in Safe Mode. I was given the option to continue in safe mode or use the system restore feature. I restored the computer to an earlier date and everything is fine now. Thanks so much for your help!!Good one, glad you're sorted. Forgot about system restore because I never use it. I haven't had to use safe mode much, or not to change settings at least. I did have a horrific experience with a fingerprint READER which called for safe mode . . . and the ATi drivers . . . but that's getting waaaay off the topic. |
