Answer» Hi everyone. he music will slow down and cut outThat is a classic Windows problem. I think maybe has some kind of freaky thing about how you install the drivers. I think you have to install ALL of the drivers for the motherboard, then the Video and last you do the sound.Or something like that. Also, the Windows Media Player does not like other media PLAYERS. i am totally ok with geek check your drivers installation.i think suerly its the source of trouble Hey thanks for your replies. I have done all that with no luck, still locks up when loading and the music is still all slow. I just don't know whats up with it, it was the perfect machine before I got a virus or whatever it was that screwed it up! grr! Anyone have anymore ideas? Thanks alot! OK. In your case it may be the way you removed or repaired the virus damage. You may need to do some repair work on the OS. In XP you go to the command prompt and type in: SFC /scannow WARNING. Before you do that you shoulda had a recent backup of all your good stuff. There is a very small chance SFC can damage the system. (Ask me why I have trepidation about the SFC program.) You may want to post a HiJack this log in the Malware forums here just to make sure you did indeed completely clear the viruses from your system. And did you reformat before reinstalling the OS?Quote (Ask me why I have trepidation about the SFC program.) OK i'll bite....why ?Quote from: Geek-9pm on November 04, 2009, 07:48:55 PM And I'd be interested to hear how that can happenQuote from: patio on November 05, 2009, 07:22:59 AM OK i'll bite....why ? Quote The story GOES the the programmer that did this code used to bring fried chicken into the workplace. Made other people annoyed. So he chose to name his new diagnostic tool 'Southern Fried Chickie n" for spite. It was shorted to SFC.The above account is not absolutely fictitious. Can you trust someone that would do such a thing? oh please What a load of Bunk... Disregard.1. What media did you reinstall Windows XP from (Recovery/Restore Partition, OEM Restore CD, OEM Windows XP Install CD, Retail Windows XP Install CD)? To what service pack level; e.g. SP3? 2. What computer are we talking about? Can you provide make and model number, if brand name computer; or make and model number of motherboard if not? 3. Update Drivers. You MIGHT need to install the motherboard chipset drivers (preferably newest) along with updated drivers for all of the onboard components. You should also check for updated drivers for the rest of your components. For their computers, Dell specifies the order in which drivers should be installed. See How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order. 4. What security software did you install, if any?just buy seagate free agent/go backup your files and reformat your hard drive.Quote from: Crinale819 on November 07, 2009, 02:42:07 PM just buy seagate free agent/go backup your files and reformat your hard drive.Ummmm - yeah, okay. That's an option. Not a good option, but an option none the less. |
