I ran SFC /scannow after a suggestion to help with another PROBLEM and now in many of my system headers and bodies i have a SLOVAK or other eastern European language. For example all of my WIRELESS headers and text are in this language and many more.

I have a legal ENGLISH installation of XP home with all update on a Dell Inspiron 6000.

I have a clean machine no virus no mal ware etc.

I need help in the registry I think.. This is NOT as simple as going to the control panel to region/language and selecting English.. I have done that...

PLEASE I cannot read this language.Have you tried System Restore to an earlier date? Have you also tried changing the language in the control panel?tried system restore... no luck..

tried language in control panel it is English.. no luck if i change to Spanish and change back. still Slovak in some windows. it is odd not all windows are affected just some..

like hardware in system profile...

I need help I do not want to reinstall.....

Where did you get this copy of XP ? ?Gringo, this is a problem which is not supposed to happen. I found this link. It may not fix your problem but will give you an insight of what you're up against. Luck.

well i have heard this before, NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN but it did and it is a pain..

MY copy of XP is legal, came installed on my DELL I pass all the tests from microsoft when i download updates.

the articles you recommended do not help as this is not a KEYBOARD problem. My keyboard functions perfectly.. my language tab is ENGLISH this is not the problem.

other ideas.I'm willing to believe that your XP is legal. However, I don't think Dell usually ships XP CD's with their computers, and you need a CD for sfc /scannow to work. Where did you get the CD? Is it a legal CD? And better yet...is it an English copy?They also don't take the time to install the Recovery Console either...which is the only other way SFC can be ran.
