Solve : RE BOOT XP?

Answer»

After antivirus complete crash of PC, is it possible to reinstall or reboot XP Home edition from an XP upgrade disc? ( it states on xi box that it will only install if a licensed user of 98, 98 2nd ed or millennium edition, saying nothing about an already installed XP OS)
posts suggest that it is possible to do just this, but does not specify if it is only possible with FULL version or if it is possible with upgrade disc also.

I would LIKE to put a few geek squad members in their place when they are so certain that it is not possible to repair xp with the upgrade disc, I think it is possible, The cost of the XP upgrade software lays in the BALANCE. I will not open it until I receive confirmation from one of you hope professors

I have never tried to fix XP with a upgrade CD but I loaded XP on a blank machine with the upgrade CD. You just have to have a copy of 98 handy. About half way though the install it will ask you for the CD and than tell you to put the upgrade XP disk back into the machine.

what 's this ?
I'm sorry I don't understand your very well!

In my experiences, the upgrade can WORK only if you system already installed is later than the CD ,
for example you CD is SP2 XP, and you system now on your hard disk is sp1 ,in this case the CD might work .
