The black screen with xp logo and the scrolling blue progress bar has no "Start" menu or "Run" command. I can only get a start menu from safe mode. When I try the command from safe mode a command box flashes one time then vanishes. I can do this several times and the result is the same. I can boot from CD. When I do this I get a blue screen that says Windows Setup in the upper left. Then there's a page that says: Welcome to Setup. This portion of the the Setup program PREPARES Microsoft Windows XP to run on your computer. To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER. To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R. To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3. When I try the command in the Recovery Console, I get "The command is not recognized."I'm going to move this to the Windows forum so others will see it and give some suggestions.Moved to the Microsoft Windows forum.Try Windows repair: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htmNot SURE were I'm coming into this thread, but ..if you can get to Safe Mode why not give system restore a try?Good point. |
