Answer» Occasionally Windows will apply the Read-only attribute to several folders without my permission, at times the entire drive structure will seem to be read-only. Then it often re-applies it whenever I attempt to change it back. Does ANYONE KNOW why this might be? Windows will apply what read only?
More Info please...I accidentally hit enter while typing. Are you talking about a USB drive here? No, I am talking about my hard drives.I meant an external USB hard drive What version of Windows ? Is indexing service enabled ? Have you installed a third-party FILE management program on this machine ?I am using Windows XP. Yes indexing service is enabled. And no I have not installed a third-party file management program.Turn off indexing in Start/Run/services.msc and see how it goes. Windows should not do this on it's own....Hard to tell without knowing what new APPS you have installed...
