Solve : Real Tek Driver?

Answer»

I posted a topic yesterday re: NO SOUND

It was suggested I update my drivers.
I FOUND a free site to check drivers.
there are two that need updating ..I have copied and pasted the message for the real tek driver. This may be stopping my sound. Ho do I fix this?
and what driver is this? is this windows media player?
should I just unload and reload?
message see as below.
Thanks Lee

A conflict has been detected between out-of-date versions of the drivers of the Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC network card and various firewall technologies. This incident causes network protocols to malfunction and prevent connection to the Internet.

Was real tek one or those?

You seem to be saying that you believe you need a driver update for you NIC (network card) and that that may be causing a problem with your sound. That doesn't make any sense, does it, unless you're talking about streaming audio from the Internet? Is that you meant?

Anyway, this may HELP with your NIC problem: http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/realteknic.htmlyes that is the driver the test said I needed to update.

I went to that site you gave and hit download ..it doesn't seem to have updated the driver.

Thanks

I am trying whatever I can to get the sound back on on my computer.
It is making me Craaaaaaaazeeeeeeeee. Did you follow the instructions there:

Description
The Realtek PCI Fast Ethernet NIC driver package can be applied to any RTL8139, RTL8130 or RTL8100 network card. It can be used to update an existing driver or during a new installation of a network card. However, Realtek advises that if Windows prompts you with 'New Hardware Found' for the PCI Ethernet Controller, you should not specify the location of the driver. Instead, finish the new hardware wizard (the PCI Ethernet Controller will now appear in Windows' Device Manager), then run the setup program included in this package. Restart your computer to complete the installation. More details can be found in the setup.txt included within the zip file.

And, again, do you have no sound, sound from certain sources but not others, ... what exactly? Hello..

Thank you so much for your time.

I went to add/ remove hardware and it is showing this real tek driver update as loaded.
I have no sound anywhere.

I know the speakers work as they will make a crackle sound as they always did if I TURN them up.

I really don't know what is stopping the sound.

I have no sound icon in the syst tray.
When I go to look up DEVICES it says all the audio devices are running.
then if I go to say sound recorder it says no sound device available.

I know it must be some silly thing I am missing ..just cannot figure out.
could it be firewalls.?
Once again did you follow the instructions Soybean posted above ? ?
