Solve : Reboot Loop Win XP Pro AND Advanced Options freeze?

Answer»

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and I am trying to desperately find help. I hope this isn't a graveyard forum where PEOPLE don't post after forever...

I have Windows XP Pro on a Dell Dimension 8400. It was working absolutely fine for months after I replaced the HDD but somehow when it turned on today, it keeps rebooting after the DELL screen disappears. Furthermore, when PRESSING F8 to get into the "Advanced Options Menu", selecting any of the options and pressing enter causes the system to freeze.

The only thing I have changed recently was my encryption on my wireless network, from WEP to WPA2. I don't know if this would have anything to do with it but it could.

Please help!Quote

Just to be sure, how long does it freeze and where exactly does it freeze?

I suggest also try turning off your Wireless Card and see what happens when you try to boot.

One more question, do you have the Windows CD?Thank you for the reply.

Since you've shown interest I'll provide an update. I opened the computer up and took out the motherboard battery (to reset CMOS) and put it back in. The computer no longer is caught in a boot loop but will not boot into windows in any way. Safe MODE, Debug Mode, and Regular (or last known). It actually FREEZES upon selection.

Of course, I don't have the windows CD.

I'll try the wireless thing card thing next.
