Solve : Rebuilding old XP computer need to reformat? |

Answer» I received a computer that USE to have xp on it. I want to rebuild it to start up on 98 windows and take it futher but I dont know how to stop it from rebooting itself and keeps asking to start in safe mode/ safe mode with networking/safe mode with command prompt or stat windwos normally. it keeps COMING up with that. can anyone help me out?Set the first boot DEVICE to be the CD-ROM and insert the Windows 98(SE) CD-ROM. still does the same THING Quote from: feathers2069 on April 17, 2007, 07:56:03 AM I want to rebuild it to start up on 98 windows and take it futherWhat does that mean?my sister gave me her old computer which had good mem and harddrive. use to be xp but i TOOK the mem and harddrive out and rebuilding another computer cause her power supply burn. i put it in another computer and got everything in it but when I boot it up it keeps rebooting. i put on here about this and they said to put in the 98 windows cd thats the only one i have i dont have xp and it keeps coming up for safe mode/safe mode with networking/safemode with command prompt or start windows normally it will not go to anything but keeps rebooting. went to cmos and made sure it said cd first, c, a. saved it and keeps rebooting same error. and will not let me except anything else. ummmm I want to know how you set the CD-ROM drive to the first boot device. Perhaps your Windows 98 CD-ROM isn't bootable, you might need a bootable diskette instead. went to cmos and in setting i changes it to read cdrom,c,a What i want to do is just wipe it all out and start over but it wont let me go to a c> Then you need a bootable diskette.
