Answer» Hi,
I have been receiving the following error message from my machine running on XP Pro SP3.
Event ID: 51 Source: Disk Description: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation.
What happens is that I have an external Hard drive called Western Digital MyBook Mirror Edition plugged into to this PC. I got a strong feeling that this error is related to the external hard drive.
My question is whether there is a way of working around this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank youI would start with running chkdsk on the drive and see if you can CLEAN up the errors on the drive.
Hi Spoiler,
I run the chkdsk on the WD MyBook drive as suggested but when I checked the event log this morning, still got the warning messages with event id: 51 repeating EVERY 10 or 15 minutes or so.
Any other workarounds that you may think of I could TRY?
Many thanks I suggest we make sure the external drive is okay. Go to the WD website and download their diagnostic utility for your drive. Burn it to cd, boot to it and run it.Quote from: ASSOCIATES on June 26, 2011, 08:49:08 PM ... Does not appear to be any problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244780 Looks like CC is right. Its a non error error.
