Answer» Here are some of the errors I have received during the past 2 weeks:
-failed to connect to windows service -COULD not connect to system, event not in service -Internet explorer REMOVED from desktop -bad_pool_header -vista product key is invalid for activation -user account control has failed to authenticate the user -error code OX800700E6 -pipe state is invalid -Blue screen referencing memory
I have tried googling these errors but most of what I find is very technical and I simply do not understand it.
I have had trouble getting the computer to boot and shut down. I have had the screen go black for about 15 hours until the battery died. My icons are large and now the entire appearance of the computer is different. I changed the screen resolution which made the icons and windows close to normal. I am still unable to get the translucent vista theme to come back up. I am now receiving a message that states that the screen saver cant run because it REQUIRES a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct3D. My screen saver is one that is preloaded and it worked fine yesterday. I bought the computer in August 08 so I WOULD think the video card is not that old.
I go through periods where I just get blue screens that flash too quickly to read and shut downs. My windows problem log contains over 200 items.
I have not done anything to the computer other that install the updates that I have received from windows. Even when I do this, half of the updates fail. From what i can tell this all happened at random. Here are the SPECS of what I am running:
HP dv6700 notebook PC running vista service pack 1 3.gb ram 32 bit operating system intel core duo [email protected] GHz Nvidia graphics card Trend Micro PC-Cillin wireless linksys router verizon DSL modem no Windows CD or backup CD's
I would appreciate any help with solving these problems and any info on whether these are common issues so I can determine if this is some flaw within HP or Vista or if I just got a lemon. At this point I am thinking the only resolution would be to completely wipe the system but I wanted to see if there was anything i could try first to try to avoid that.Navigate to: C:\Windows\Minidump folder. If you see any .dmp files, zip all of them, and attach zipped file to your next reply.
