Solve : recording POST actions? |
|
Answer» How can I create a file or printout of the ACTIVITY during the POST operations? XPPro SP3. I am trying to SEE how the POST activities are seeing the hardware in my system. I particularly am interested in the HDD results. I have a separate PCI card (CSA649U) for ATA devices and the primary and secondary ports each have a master and slave connector. I also have a SATA HDD (233 GB) with 3 partitions. My motherboard is ABIT NF-M25. If I connect all my HDDs to the system I should have 4 drives on the ATA and one SATA with 3 partitions. With the Diskette and 2 CDs I should have A:, C:, D:, E:, ETC. I don't know which HDD is working Thanks The only options to capture the POST is to record it with another device such as a digital hand hel recorder (or) capture card on another computer or device to record the video output. The POST information happens before any programs can start from a hard drive installation etc. Its the absolute lowest level before higher level processes execute the boot and take over in which logging is available. If you wanted to get a text based output you could capture the information as a digital image and then scan it with an OCR PROGRAM to output text from the digital image capture. But I haven't ever gone through such lengths to achieve this. Just stating that it is possible! I usually just use my digital camera and freeze the frame that is in question if information is displayed at post too quickly to be read and the SCREEN can not be paused by the pause key etc. |
