Solve : regedit in .bat file how??

Answer»

I want to run regedit on Windows XP but without going
start->run->regedit
I want to do that by writing a .bat file
what i have to write???
plz helpIt's easier than it SOUNDS. All the BAT NEEDS to include is this:

C:\WINDOWS\regedit.exeActually you don't even need that MUCH as long as it is in the windir directory.

Code: [Select]regedit.exe
That's all you need. I still don't see why you don't just make a shortcut to it???

 8-)fffreakAs for why you need "C:\WINDOWS", it's because regedit.exe is not in the root directory; it's in C:\Windows. Also, if the bat were on the desktop, it'd look for regedit.exe on the desktop unless you specify C:\WINDOWS first.

As to the why not make a shortcut... he could, but he'd have to know the location. Which brings me to my first point, ad infinitum. Yeah, I did forget it's not in the root directory, it is in the windir. It would not look for it on the desktop. Test it yourself make a new bat with just that, "regedit.exe" and see what happens.Ah, I see. It does automatically GO to the right folder. Probably because it's a common system command. Oh well. I'm still right in principle: Normally you'd have to. But yes, you are completely correct. Quote

Right in princible

HAHAHA. I'll remember that one Huh? I said principle. :-?No, I just can't spell.
