Answer» Hiya
My friends Compaq V5000 laptop got corrupted so I tried doing a CLEAN install with a downloaded XP HOME SP3 ISO (she no longer had her original discs, but had a product key on the back of the laptop). However, I MUST of downloaded the wrong one because the license key got rejected (I'm thinking it's because the ISO I used was a CD one as apposed to OEM? didn't know there was an OEM VERSION at the time :/). Anyway, after it got rejected, I downloaded an OEM version and tried that, but now the computer is ignoring the new disc on startup and Windows setup kicks in, wanting to resume the original installation (the CD ISO) does that sound right? I'm wondering if the OEM disc is just failing or something. Well, I already formatted the disc which had the CD version on to burn the OEM version, so I re-burned the CD version onto another disc, put the disc in, but Windows is still asking me to insert the original Windows CD (so I'm thinking the setup program must of wrote something to the disc which it obviously CANT find now?).
Basically now I cant get past this Windows setup automatic startup resume thing. Is there a way I can reformat the HDD via bios or something? it's like Windows has taken control of her hardware.
Thanks for any adviceWe don't normally assist with warez here... But what i'd suggest doing is borrowing an MS XP CD of the same version and trying again...
I wouldn't trust any DLoaded .ISO to fix the issue...
