Solve : Remote Assistance Queries?

Answer»

Just out of curiosity, I have STARTED to use remote assistance today, and as such I'm not heaps familiar with the technical connection side or things. I managed to get it working numerous times with one person, but two other people it could not "Resolve Remote Host Connection". One person connected through another computer, the other had four CONNECTING through the same modem. The latter disabled their firewall and the FIRST did not, but it did not connect to either of them, and I was wondering what else it could be. I opened the invitation file with notepad for the latter of the two, and it appeared to be their local connection address that it sent, so I changed it to their I.P. address and this still did not work, so I'm guessing I maybe did not connect via the right port. From memory it was 3308 or 3380 that it tried to connect on. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.Correction, it was port 3389.I doubt I can help but I think more info is needed before anyone can help.  What software are using to do this?  Are these computers running Win XP?  Which version of XP?  Running WinXP HE SP2 on a 1157mhz duron processor, 100gig via two hard drives, and 578mb PC133 ram. I'm using the built in windows remote assistance software.Did you try their OUTER IP address or Local IP address? I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the outer IP address that you need to use. Go here to see the outer IP address.I tried bothThat seems to difficult for me to answer, but you could try RealVNC, that is what I use and it seems to work really well.Yeah, I generally do for local networks and such, but when it's someone over the internet who is a complete novice, I need this to work so they don't have to do anything.
