Solve : Remote call proceedure recovery in Vista?

Answer»

My Vista machine has been shutting down every 10 minutes or so I did what I did in XP - set restart the computer to take no action even though my computer has just been shutting down and not restarting at all.

However, while I was able to reset RPC locator PROPERTIES to take no action, I was not given a change option for the service above - plain old RPC

Is there a way to let me change?
Anything else I can try to prevent my machine from shutting down every 10 minutes?

Thank you for any advice.
SandyWhat protection apps do you have and when is the last TIME you updated and scanned ? ?

This is a common attack point for baddies...I USE System Mechanic 8 for Vista and malwarebytes. I only do one thing on this computer and I've bee doing it for abort 3 moths now and this is the first time it has randomly been shutting down. I could get fsecure for viruses but I prefer to use the online version because I OVERLOAD my computer with the one thing I do for about 8 days each month.

I use System Mechanic 8
Bad idea. I'd suggest, you uninstall it.

Download HijackThis:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download
by clicking on Download HijackThis Installer
Install, and run it.
Post HijackTHis log.
Do NOT attempt to fix anything!

NOTE. If you're using Vista, right click on HijackThis, and click Run as Administrator
