Solve : remote connecting using MSTSC?

Answer»

Recently I changed my residential ISP from ADSL2 to Australia's Bigpond cable with a Motorola SBG Wireless Surfboard Gateway modem. I have never had any problem connecting to my office using MSTSC until the change to Bigpond. When i try to connect I get the typical unhelpful MS type error message: "Remote Desktop Connection > Remote Desktop Disconnected > This computer can't connet to the remote computer. Try connecting again. if problem continues contact the owner of the remote computer or your network ADMINISTRATOR." Could there be something in the modem settings that is blocking my remote attempts to connect or is it settings at my ISP. any help is appreciated, Regards, GuberMake sure that the computer that your trying to connect to, has Remote Desktop enabled. Thanks for your reply.
I have been connecting remotely to the office computer for several years and no problem via Aistralian ISP TPG ADSL2+. I connected yesterday with the same laptop [notebook] through a neigbour's ISP not Bigpond on ADSL2+ and no problem. Then I try connecting with the Australian Telstra Bigpond cable and though I can surf the Net, get emails in and out I cannot get remote connection. Other members of my team can remote connect to my office. Help! You should CALL Bigpondthanks to all that offered suggestions to deal with my problem.
The last suggestion was that I should call Bigpond. needless to say that was my first call followed by at least 6 more calls to them and none of which was helpful and the last one was diverted to their outsourced techo service that wanted to book a service call at $149AUD. bigpond utterly useless.
I also checked with my Anti-virus softare SUPPLIER and they were helpful and checked to ensure that their PRODUCT hadn't caused any issue for me.
I also called Motorola the manufacturer of the Cable wifi Modem supplied by Bigpond. Motorola were scathing of Bigpond whom they said was fully trained by Motorola to support the Motorola Modem. Motorola passed me to a no charge techo who was patient, supportive and helpful. He made several suggestions one of which worked to alleviate my problem. the issue was the modem firewall that was set to high. I lowered the firewall security level and bingo got connected to my office.

Glad you got it FIXED
