Solve : Removing Icons?

Answer»

I was hoping that someone can tell me how to remove Icons from the Control Panel list . I have WinXP Home SP2, setup menu style that RESEMBLES Win98. I go from Start -to- Settings-to-Control Panel and there is the list of icons that I NEED to remove some of the icons off that, "if they are considered to be icons". Look thru MSN Knowledge Base already and some other sources and have found no info on this matter. Im sure it probably has to be done thru the SYSTEM Registry but, with out knowing just exactly how I wouldnt try educated guessing on this. Im hoping someone out there has done this or knows how. I hope you can help out..I have several icons that are no good and need to be TAKEN out of the list and right click does not give me any remove or delete options. thanks

Computer Info: Gigabyte MoBo-M55sli-S4 (rev2.0)-AMD CoreX2 @3800 CPU-1gig Kingston 800Mhz RAM-SATA 3.Gb Hard Drive-Wireless G Card-XFX 5500FX Vid Card-other cards and peripherals not listed..

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Thank You,

What exactly are you trying to remove from the control panel and why?

Typically, they shouldn't be deleted (hence the reason right clicking on them doesn't give you that option), but then again, they should be working unless something is wrong with your system.I have an icon that I have to remove, simply because I don't want it there...I have already found out how to do this thru reg.****

Thank you anywayQuote from: litespeed14 on January 22, 2008, 07:24:04 AM

Hey, you ask for help and don't give information and I'll ask for an explanation. You look like you've been here long enough, you should EXPECT that from any of us. Having an attitude like this won't get you very far here.
