Solve : Removing WMP icon!?

Answer»

No, no, open reply window here at CH.
Click on Additional Options..., and you'll see Attach window
OK!Hope this helps!

[attachment deleted by admin]You did well

Open Registry Editor.
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers\Handlers
Right click on MSPlayCDAudioOnArrival, click Export, and save the file to known location (make sure, you know where it was saved).
Right click on MSPlayCDAudioOnArrival again, click Delete.

Repeat same TWO actions, for following keys:
- MSPlayDVDMovieOnArrival
- MSPlayMediaOnArrival
- MSPlaySuperVideoCDMovieOnArrival
- MSPlayVideoCDMovieOnArrival
- MSRipCDAudioOnArrival
- MSWMDMHandler
- MSWMPBurnCDOnArrival

When done, restart computer. Thanks for the reply and encouragement,Broni!
The last number of posts really had me scratching my head!

Your last post has done the job of ridding me of that unwanted WMP
icon in the AUTOPLAY pop-up - which is great - only to be REPLACED
by another equally unwanted "using < need provider >" icon!

Dare I ask,Broni...!?

Also, what do I do with the Handlers sub-keys that I've exported
and saved?

MANY Thanks

Don't touch them yet.

Go to files you exported, right click on MSWMDMHandler.reg, click MERGE, and allow registry merge.

Restart computer, and report on progress. No change,Broni!

Get CleanHandlers: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/autoplayhandlers.htm, and see, if you can locate some orphaned entry.Below is the result of a "Scan" ONLY!
Should I also perform a "Scan and Fix invalid entries"?

Please do.That's got it,Broni!
It took us some time on account of a lot of head-scratching on
my PART and a fair number of posts but we finally cracked it!

One last question before closing the topic: what should I do with
the software applications used in solving the problem,i.e.
SystemLook & CleanHandlers? Are they worth keeping or should I
remove them? And what about the Handlers & Autoplay Handlers keys
exported and saved?

Cheers

Good job
