Solve : Repair Installation Necessary??

Answer»

I have Windows XP, Home Edition.  I have noticed that I no longer have Character Map, Calculator, the Solitaire games that comes with Windows.  These APPLICATIONS are the ones I've noticed gone, there may be more.  All my other applications are running great, no other problems.  The tech from my computer manufacturer told me I needed to do a "Repair Installation(Windows XP Already Installed)", and then pointed me to a support page that instructed me how to do it.  I looked at the INSTRUCTIONS and it looks like something that should only be done by a person with a computer programing degree!  Is a "Repair Installation" NECESSARY for this issue?  I don't want to screw everything else up just to get these applications back that I really don't need, but would like.  Thanks for any help you can give me!If you open Control Panel, Add or Remove programs, Add /Remove Windows Components...

Put a checkmark in and click OK, etc.
Thanks for the advice Mac.
All of the applications that are SHOWN in the final "Window" of your post are present and checked, but are still not showing up in my Start/Programs/Accesories.  Could it be that they are still there, just the short cuts missing?  Thank you. Quote

That is possible.

%SystemRoot%\system32\calc.exe
%SystemRoot%\system32\charmap.exe
%SystemRoot%\system32\mspaint.exe

I don't have any games on this computer so I can't help you with sol.exe

There is this though...
