Solve : Rundll32.exe Problems?

Answer»

I am new to this forum and appreciate any help I can get.

A virus removed my Rundll32.exe FILE and I do not have an XP CD Rom to get a replacement. Can someone e-mail me ONE? Sorry we don't do that here...

You'll need to borrow 1.

See if you have a backup COPY in your "%systemroot%\system32\dllcache" directory, where "%systemroot%" usually resolves to "c:\windows".  In other words look in "c:\windows\system32\dllcache" (or elsewhere on your system).

"rundll32.exe" belongs in your "system32" subdirectory.

The "Size" and "Modified" values for mine are "32.5 KB (33,280 bytes)" and "Sunday, April 13, 2008, 9:42:34 PM".

Of course if the file is there, I would have thought "Windows File Protection" would have restored it already.  Guess I don't KNOW how that really works...
