Solve : Running out of PCI slot.?

Answer»

Help! I need more PCI slots. I used up all three PCI sloton my PC, I am trying to find a INEXPENSIVE solution to this without buying a new PC. Doesanyone know if there is some sorts of way, such as a external device to expend more PCI slot?

Thanks

KBuying a new mainboard is cheaper than buying a new PC.

You should look for onboard video, sound and Ethernet CARD when buying a new mainboard. That allready clears up three PCI slots.

I am assuming you've got a Mini-ATX board since they only seem to come with 3 PCI slots.

I have never heard or seen of an external PCI device. Quote

For $2000/ea, you can buy 'em.  Industrial computers might need them and big companies can afford them.
I think you'll be cheaper off with a new mainboard, then.  check if your GC is PCI or AGP if it is PCI you can replace it with an AGP GC . otherwise you have to buy a new motherboard Quote

That assumes you have an AGP slot.  With 3 PCI slots, it's PROBABLY onboard AGP.
 Hi,

Thanks for all your replies. Sign....., I guess I have to bite the bullet and get a new mother board. Yes, I only have a onboard GV. Because this PC, is also a router for my network in my room via a WiFi router from downstairs, so the two NICS took two PCI slots PLUS a firewire card. So no more room for a video card.

Wouldn't it be easier and more economical to purchase a 2nd router?
Use that machine exclusively as a router, and get one with a full-ATX board for your PC.

Or get a real router and switch, and get rid of ICS. Then you can use just one Ethernet card and have a PCI slot open.
