Solve : screen keeps jumping?

Answer»
Hello,
I have a Dell desktop and monitor, running XP Pro.

My problem is every time I go to Google or Yahoo, Facebook, etc.,
and try to navigate the page, my monitor flickers up and down,
jumping all the time.
I can't read anything until it stops.

Is there a fix for this?

Thank-You,
John
Is this a CRT monitor or a Flat screen?

Monitor is probably on its way out, although you could try swapping the video cable. Usually a picture that jumps AROUND in position is a SYNC and HOLD issue. Modern flat screens have an autosync function that lines up the screen which can make it jump position horzontally and vertically about an inch or so until it finds center and holds the sync. I have seen flat screens that are on their way out have a vert/horiz RANDOM jump where you are using the display and then all of a sudden everything just moved like a half inch of so to the right etc.

If the display is a CRT and the picture shrinks on a page with lots of white background but gets larger on darker backgrounds then its usually a issue with the high voltage struggling to operate. Quote from: DaveLembke on January 31, 2013, 02:44:29 PM

Wow this TAKES me back. Many CRT monitors buzz slightly in normal operation, and when that (above) happens you can often hear the buzz change.

Its a Dell Monitor, FLAT screen..
