Solve : Screen resizing help...please reply asap?

Answer»

Me and my sister re-installed windows xp today because my pc was got a virus and needed to be wiped. We got everything sorted and the virus had gone, but its resized the screen to 640x480, and it wont let us change it back in the display settings, when we try and drag the bar ALONG to make the screen resolution different it wont move.is there any chance ANYONE knows how?

I'd appreciate any help given
ThanksTake a deep breath... I want you to do this... Run a Windows Update by going to http://www.microsoft.com ... When you click on the Windows Update button, click on Custom Installation... Now... Select and install any and all updates that you find... This should help...

[glb]Flame[/glb]Thanks i'll give it a try and i'll let you knowno it didnt actually work, anymore ideas? :-/I need some information... Who is the manufacturer of your video card?

[glb]Flame[/glb]i think its Nvidia but im not too sure to be honest, the drivers are on the computer for the monitor, but its just im not too sure how to install themLets try this to find out... Click Start -> Run... In the run text box, type   dxdiag   ... Press Enter... If you see a small grey box, click No... You will now see a rather large grey box showing your system information... Click on the display tab... Now... Look at the top-left corner... You will see Manufacturer:  ... Tell me what you see...

[glb]Flame[/glb]HMMM this is kind of wierd, i dont actually see a run thing in my start, my computer has gone all wierd since we re installed windows, and im sure there was one before  EVERY OPERATING system from Windows has Run.... If you click start, you see NO run button?!

[glb]Flame[/glb]thats right i see no run button, its totally messed up.Yes... It is.... Well... We need to know which video card you have to fix the resizing problem...

[glb]Flame[/glb]Oh wait i found it, its just the screen was too large to be able to see it, so i'll do the run thing now I got a box saying DirectX diagnostic toolOk. GOOD. I was getting concerned there for a minute... lol  Keep in touch...

[glb]Flame[/glb]got a box saying directx diognostic tool?
