Solve : Screen Resolution isn't working properly?

Answer»

Around 2 days ago, my PC's screen resolution went haywire.
I normally have it set at 1280 by 1024, but the next day I logged on, the resolution was different. Not by a little amount, it looked like the PC was at 800 by 600. So I checked the resolution and... It was set at 1280 by 1024. I changed it around a couple of times, to 800 by 600, to 1600 by 1280, but no success. I restarted the computer as well, several times, and NADA (nothing).
Is there any WAY to fix this problem without having to reformat the computer?
The problem is not only affecting the desktop, but it's also affecting everywhere (Windows Explorer, any GAMES I play, etc.)

Thanks in advance,
Azka.

Can you explain that in an easier manner please? Because right now, I've no idea what several things in your post mean

I don't think so. It may be possible as there are other users accounts on this computer, of which I do not have much understanding. So I guess it's possible.Did you search the Dell site for updates to your PC?

Yes, I did.
No success. Are you saving the changes when you make them and re-booting ? ?Quote from: patio on December 14, 2009, 03:26:58 PM

No, I didn't think it was necessary.
I did it before though, with no affect, and repeated it again. And not successful :S!1) Click Start, right-click "Computer," left-click "Properties."
2) Click "Device Manager" in the upper-left hand corner.
3) Click the + sign to the left of "Display Adapters"

Tell us exactly what it says under "Display Adapters."Quote from: killerb255 on December 15, 2009, 01:45:38 PM

Haha
It's okay!
I managed to fix the problem.
To be honest, it wasn't really a "problem".
Turns out my DAD increased the Text SIZE DPI or something, which in the end increased the size of everything to cater for the writing.
But thanks to all here.
