Hello Charki, and welcome to the forum.

Don't really know how to help you, but it might help to know which screensaver you are TRYING to use and how much free-space you have on your hard-drive as 10 GB is quite limited and an inability to run - chkdsk /r - or defrag could have a bearing on the screensaver not running.

XP is decidedly better with 512 MB of RAM even with a 1000 MHz PIII such as I have, so if you can add some more RAM this would be a good idea.

If you click the link below and run through the Cleanup routine then run - chkdsk /r - & - defrag - it might help.

CLEANUP
Hi Mac and Thank you for your answer.
I'm using Win XP logo and the HD is 40 GB not 10 it's my fault of typing. Yesterday I tried tu run the defrag and after analyzing I got a message from the program that it's not needed.
ALSO before we installed Win XP there was 98SE that I upgraded to ME and the screen saver never worked previously, also I installed the WIN XP on my wife Thinkpad 266Mhz , P2 and the screen saver worked well. Could it be something wrong with the computer?
CharkiScreen Saver Won't Start - Check your settings here: Go to Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop or: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop
ScreenSaveTimeOut = (set your preference)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop

ScreenSaverIsSecure
0 - Screen savers are not password-protected.
1 - All screen savers are password-protected.

Verify that the ScreenSaver has been placed in the C:\WINDOWS\System32 Folder. Make sure that the screensaver starts with " SS " e.g.. if the screensaver name is " pictures " rename it to " sspictures".

Screensaver gets set to None

Check your settings here: Go to Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. Scrnsave.exe = C:\Windows\System32\logon.scr

Verify your Time while there as well and choose accordingly: ScreenSaveTimeOut = (set your preference)

Also make sure none of the screensavers are wrapped in double quotes as in: ""c:\windows\system32\screensavername.scr""
And try adding: ss in front of the screensaver name.
Wow! An incredible post from Merlin_2! Thanks!

:)Hi ,
I tried to do what Merlin_2 said to me in his answer on Nov.26, so I open the regedit and clicked the + sign in front of the Control Panel and many folders showed and after the last there is 8 ndifferent screen savers some of them and on the right side it shows (default) REG_SZ (value not set) others it shows Density REG_SZ 50
WarpSpeed REG_SZ 10
I don't know what to do since this is the first time I've seen the Regedit .
I would be more than grateful if anyone can help me and write to me in detail as to what to do .
PS. Due to physical limitations I cannot stay for long time in front of the computer.
Thank you in advance.
Charki
