Solve : Scroll and restore problems?

Answer»

When I try to scroll down in windows explorer, the bar will pop BACK to the original position.  I cannot access drop down windows.  In web pages if i hit the control  key (not ctrl +) the page will get larger.  ctrl - does not work to make it smaller.  I tried to RESTORE to an earlier time and get a message saying the this is only a function the administrator can do.  My husband was the administrator and he recently passed away.  I tried to log on as him by switching users and that option is not available.  If it was I don't know his password.  The restore disk is lost.  It is a Toshiba Satellite laptop.  Any HELP will be greatly appreciated. You likely can restore the laptop to the condition it was when it was purchased.  There is a hidden partition usually accessible by one of the "F" keys at power up.  Try F11 or F12.  You will lose all personal docs & all Windows updates & any user installed programs, so save personal files to a flash drive.  You cannot save installed programs, they will have to be reinstalled.

What is the model number of the Toshiba Satellite laptop?
What VERSION of Windows, Vista or 7?  There will be a Widows Product ID attached to the laptop.  Need to know if it was upgraded because the restore partition (if it exists) will match the PID.If the restore procedure mentioned by Computer_Commando does not work, i.e. your laptop does not have a recovery partition on the hard drive, you can order recovery media from https://support.toshiba.com/repair
